Drug intelligence / Profile preview
`[18F]fm-PBR28-d2` (deuterium-substituted `[18F]`fluoromethyl-PBR28) is a radiolabeled small molecule positron emission tomography (PET) and Cerenkov luminescence imaging (CLI) tracer targeting the 18 kDa translocator protein (TSPO). Developed by researchers at Seoul National University, it is a deuterated analog of `[18F]`fluoromethyl-PBR28 designed to improve in vivo stability against defluorination, thereby reducing bone uptake (e.g., in the skull and femur) and enhancing the target-to-background ratio. It is primarily investigated in preclinical research for imaging neuroinflammation (such as in stroke models) and visualizing interscapular brown adipose tissue (iBAT) activity, where it has demonstrated superior sensitivity and correlation with uncoupling protein 1 (UCP1) expression compared to `[18F]`FDG.
